Dispatch Reveals Final CCTV Sighting of Jang Ja Yeon, Contents of Her “Suicide Letter”, and Lee Mi Sook’s Potential Lies

Dispatch has released pictures taken from the final CCTV videos with Jang Ja Yeon present in it, as well as the contents of her reported suicide note, which some people, including her own family, believe that she did not write it on her own. There is also concern that Lee Mi Sook lied to police during her testimony, when she said she didn’t know what was happening.

The woman, was Jang Ja Yeon. The man next to her was Yoo Jang Ho, Jang Ja Yeon’s manager at her former agency. The two met just one week before her death. What kinds of conversations did the two hold?

10 years have passed since Jang Ja Yeon’s passing. The entire case behind her death has still been a state of chaos. Nothing is clear about the case. Why did she make her decision to end her life? Dispatch has decided to go over the entire case once again.

The day is now March 1, and Yoo Jang Ho is busy. In his hands are a pile of documents. They are the documents Jang Ja Yeon gave him the previous day when the two met at the office.

Yoo Jang Ho took these documents, and headed to Ilsan. In Ilsan, he went to the MBC Drama center, and met actress Lee Mi Sook, who was filming for East of Eden.

At 6:45 pm, he sent Jang Ja Yeon a text message.

On March 1, Yoo Jang Ho met with Lee Mi Sook. Yoo Jang Ho claims that he did not show Lee Mi Sook the contents of the documents that Jang Ja Yeon gave him. The following is Yoo Jang Ho’s testimony with the police.

Police: Did you discuss the contents of Jang Ja Yeon’s documents with Lee Mi Sook?

Yoo Jang Ho: I did not say that she wrote the documents. I only talked about Kim Jong Seung (Jang Ja Yeon’s agency CEO) was doing bad things to his rookie actors. Lee Mi Sook said I should consult with Jeong Se Ho director.

At 11:57 pm, Jang Ja Yeon left the office. Yoo Jang Ho did not see her off.

Jang Ja Yeon met with Yoo Jang Ho 3 days in a row. At least up until that point, there was some hope left. This can be inferred from the chat logs from one of Jang Ja Yeon’s closest friends, referred to as Ms. Lee. The following is Ms. Lee’s conversation with Jang Ja Yeon:

Jang Ja Yeon: Unnie, things are finally going to come out.

Ms. Lee: What are you talking about?

Jang Ja Yeon: Yoo Sang Ho told me to come to his office because he had to tell me something. He said he was preparing a criminal investigation on Kim Jong Seung. If I wrote down everything that has happened to me, they would guarantee my identity and they would also relieve me from my contract. So I went and wrote the document.

Ms. Lee: Why did you believe them and write such a thing?

Jang Ja Yeon: Unnie! Anyway, I can’t just sit back and do nothing, when Kim Jong Seung gets ruined, won’t my contract be cancelled automatically?

— Chat between Jang Ja Yeon and Ms. Lee

Jang Ja Yeon was buoyed by the dream of terminating her contract with her agency. What kind of document did she write? It’s time to look at that document, which is known as her suicide note.

dispatch jang ja yeon 13

Jang Ja Yeon wrote between 4-6 pages of A4 paper in Yoo Jang Ho’s office. But after her death, these papers became packaged as “Jang Ja Yeon’s suicide note”. That’s how Yoo Jang Ho disguised it.

What is the real content inside the letter? Dispatch has obtained 4 pages from the documents Jang Ja Yeon has written.

“This is the damage case for Jang Ja Yeon.

1) In October 2008, Kim Sung Hoon CEO sent me to the director of the drama Ja Myung Go at nightThe director was able to cast Lee Mi Sook to become part of the drama and if I wanted to be part of the drama too, I was coerced into serving liquor to him, and I did.

Also, Kim Sung Hoon CEO jokingly blackmailed Lee Mi Sook, saying how if Lee Mi Sook did not appear in the Drama Production company CEO’s drama, that Kim Sung Hoon would ruin her image.

2) On January 11, 2008, when I had to serve liquor to Kim Sung Joon CEO and [name redacted], they were cursing at Song Sun Mi, and even talked about cutting off all of her work.

The person I was serving liquor to told me that he thought I was prettier than Song Sun Mi and instead, he would call me for future works, if I went to a room salon with him and served him drinks.

In the above truths, I, actress Jang Ja Yeon, am not telling any lies and am suffering from the damages caused by The Contents Entertainment CEO Kim Sung Hoon (real name Kim Jong Seung)

“These are examples of damages against Jang Ja Yeon.

3) When I signed a contract with Kim Sung Hoon CEO, I can’t count the number of times I was coerced into serving liquor with him. In September 2008, he called me to a room salon and made me sleep with him. In 2008 (I can’t remember it well), Kim Sung Hoon drank too much, locked me in a room with him, and hit me in the head with his hands and a water bottle. He also verbally abused me.

4) A director went to Thailand to play golf and I was taken out of my drama schedule and told to go to Thailand to entertain the director. When I did not comply with the request, they told my manager that the car rental would also be with my money.

I am living with an actress’ dream. With that dream, I have had to endure verbal and physical assault from The Contents Entertainment CEO Kim Sung Hoon.

I am just a weak and powerless rookie actress. I want to relieve myself from this pain.

What many people have believed up until this point, was Jang Ja Yeon’s suicide letter, is actually not one. Both Song Sun Mi and Lee Mi Sook were mentioned as additional victims in her letters.

Kyonggi University professor Lee Soo Jung has stated that it is difficult for Jang Ja Yeon’s documents to read like a suicide letter, as it is not in the form of a normal suicide letter. Some reasons why include how she signed every page with her signature, her stamp, her fingerprint, and her registration number.

“In Jang Ja Yeon’s documents, she uses honorifics such as Kim Sung Hoon CEO. It feels like a record of investigation, or a witness statement.”

— Lee Soo Jung

Are Jang Ja Yeon’s bereaved family and Ms. Lee thinking the same thing? Dispatch has statements of the witness interviews as well as statements from Jang Ja Yeon’s family. The following is the statements made by Ms. Lee:

Ms. Lee: Jang Ja Yeon said “Kim Sung Hoon forced me, but I never slept with him. I swear on the back of my deceased parents.” She really hated being the topic of malicious gossip.

Police: Then why did she use the term “sexual favors”?

Ms. Lee: I think Yoo Jang Ho coached her into saying that.

The following are statements made by Jang Ja Yeon’s bereaved family:

Older brother: The younger sister I know doesn’t know the format for these kinds of documents. She had never been to a police station before.

Older sister: There were words and sentences that [Jang] Ja Yeon doesn’t usually use. It feels like she was writing down what she was told to write.

Older brother: I want to know why they said there was a suicide note in the interview. Yoo Jang Ho kept on saying that he wanted to kill Kim Sung Hoon.

The bereaved family did not want the “suicide note” to be revealed. They wanted to let the matter pass by quietly. They demanded that the note be burned. Yoo Jang Ho pretended to follow the family’s wishes. On March 12, 2009, he burned the original copy in front of the family.

However, the next day, Jang Ja Yeon’s suicide letter was on the news again. KBS 9pm News ran an exclusive report on how they found the burned and blackened document outside of Yoo Jang Ho’s office, in a trash bag. The Jang Ja Yeon case became a black hole, sucking the attention from everyone, and everything.

Going back to before the death of Jang Ja Yeon, Dispatch was able to obtain the final text message she received before her passing.

“I think you will be meeting with someone with me on Monday, March 9. Please clear your schedule for the afternoon. Call me Monday morning.”

The sender of the message was Yoo Jang Ho. The message was sent on March 7, at 3:34 pm, 2 hours before her death. Who did she have to meet with on Monday? Who did Yoo Jang Ho make an appointment with?

dispatch jang ja yeon 18

This is a graphic of the people involved. Kim Jong Seung, Jang Ja Yeon, Song Sun Mi, Lee Mi Sook, Yoo Jang Ho, and the person she was supposed to meet on March 9. (That person was Jeong Se Ho PD).

First, is The Contents Entertainment CEO Kim Jong Seung. He brought in Jang Ja Yeon, Song Sun Mi, Lee Mi Sook, and other actors into the agency.

Second, is Jang Ja Yeon, an actress signed under The Contents Entertainment

Third, is Song Sun Mi, whose contract with the agency expired in September 2008

Fourth, is Lee Mi Sook, whose contract with the agency expired on December 31, 2009.

Fifth, is Yoo Jang Ho, who worked as a manager at The Contents Entertainment. In August 2008, he set up his own agency, Hoya Entertainment.

These 5 people were all under one roof, at The Contents Entertainment. However in 2008, a crisis happened. Yoo Jang Ho opened Hoya in August 2008, and took Song Sun Mi and Lee Mi Sook with him (Lee Mi Sook moved over in January 2009). This left Jang Ja Yeon in The Contents Entertainment.

At that time, Lee Mi Sook’s breach of contract happened. Yoo Jang Ho made a mistake in reading the end of her contract. But even though she had 1 year left on her contract, Lee Mi Sook still signed with Hoya anyway. The 5 that were once part of the same family, are now split up, and Kim Jong Seung wouldn’t go down without a fight, starting a lawsuit against Song Sun Mi and Lee Mi Sook. Jang Ja Yeon happened to get caught up within this fight.

During this fight, a chat log was revealed showing Lee Mi Sook mentioning Jang Ja Yeon. The following is a conversation between Lee Mi Sook and Jeong Se Ho PD.

Lee Mi Sook: Jang Ja Yeon came to me crying and asked for a request. She came after writing things on A4 paper for Yoo Jang Ho. There is also something about how you and Jang Ja Yeon went golfing in Thailand together.

Jeong Se Ho PD: Lee Mi Sook, wouldn’t you come golfing with me? How could you not come, after I’ve been gone for 10 years?

Lee Mi Sook: The contents are shocking. The only person Kim Jong Seung is afraid of is you. Please scold him. Whether you have to break a hand or a foot, this cannot hit the floor. Yoo Jang Ho has the A4 papers, meet him and listen to what he says.”

Finally, there is Lee Mi Sook’s witness interview statement, which conflicts with her messages to Jeong Se Ho.

Police: Did you know Jang Ja Yeon?

Lee Mi Sook: I did not know her in the past, I came to know of her name through this incident.

Police: Did you know that Jang Ja Yeon wrote the document?

Lee Mi Sook: I don’t know.

Police: Did you know if Jang Ja Yeon wrote the document with Yoo Jang Ho?

Lee Mi Sook: I don’t know.

Police: Is there any truth that you received the documents from Yoo Jang Ho?

Lee Mi Sook: There is none.

Police: Have you seen the contents of the documents?

Lee Mi Sook: I have not seen them.

Police: According to Jeong Se Ho PD’s statement, Jang Ja Yeon’s completed documents were seen and Jeong Se Ho knew of the contents, is this true?

Lee Mi Sook: No. Jeong Se Ho PD must have heard incorrectly. There is an urgent filming, so I would like if you could postpone the investigation until next Monday.

No matter what the situation is, the re-examination of Jang Ja Yeon’s case is for the truth. Starting right from the beginning, investigations will have to start again.

The statue of limitations for Jang Ja Yeon’s case are set to expire later in March. Over 637.000 people have signed the Blue House petition requesting that the case investigations be extended.
